MEGAFORM PRODUCT INFORMATION

MANUFACTURE TECHNICAL DETAILS

All the Megaform blocks are manufactured by injection moulding of building grade EPS. Building grade EPS contains a fire retardant additive. The blocks are moulded to a density of approximately 26-30kg/m3. Each block contains about 1kg of polystyrene bead. The plastic insert are moulded in during production to maximise the integrity of the bridging component.

 

SERIES 230

The Megaform Series 230 block is designed for single storey and internal load bearing walls. It has applications for small retaining walls.

THERMAL INSULATION

EPS has exceptional insulation properties, with a thermal resistance (R value) of 1.31 per 50mm of thickness for S class material, as defined by AS 1366 part 3: 1992. This makes it ideal for wall and underfloor insulation and external cladding of buildings.

Because of its cellular structure EPS is dimensionally stable, and will not settle over time. EPS used and installed correctly does not deteriorate with age and as such is able to deliver constant R values for the life of the building.

Energy conservation is an issue. Megaform will cut energy cost up to 90% compared to conventional construction. Megaform exceeds the NZ and Australian standards relating to energy efficient structures with and R factor of 4.

STRENGTH

Megaform blocks are filled with reinforced concrete. Nothing rivals steel reinforced concrete for structural integrity, meets or exceeds the NZ and Australian standards. Megaform is ideally suited for different locations like earthquake and cyclone regions. Megaform is available in different sizes to suit the all-building designs single to multi story and for specific design.

DESIGN FLEXABILITY

Megaform would be available either assemble on site or built up version, ready to use in various widths. The system can be used for many types of construction from building a new home, renovations, multistory building, apartments, swimming pools retaining walls, wine cellars and many more. The inside of the blocks have a dovetailed locking system for accurate positioning of the divider units and to maximize bonding between polystyrene and concrete. The divider unit is used for the forming of windows, doors, beams or pillars. The tongue and groove locking system provides accurate positioning of the blocks to minimize wastage and achieve faster construction time with precision.

FIRE

Megaform blocks are produced using flame retardant EPS. If ignited with a flame the EPS extinguishes itself as soon as the ignition flame is removed. 150mm of concrete achieves a 3hr. fire rating.

COST

Cost for construction-using Megaform is reduced, blocks are lightweight. Two blocks per sqm2, walls can be erected quickly reducing labour costs.

The simplicity of building with Megaform speeds up construction, as specialist trades workers are not required. Builders or Home Builders can install themselves.

The lightweight block design enables convenient on site assembly; transportation costs are less with no heavy lift equipment required, less scaffolding hire, ideal for remote areas.

Patented plastic inserts are molded into expanded polystyrene blocks during manufacturing process to give blocks added strength. Allowing concrete to be poured to a height up to 3 meters with greater confidence due to higher formwork strength.

SUSTAINABILITY

Megaform EPS is inert, organic material and therefore will not rot and is highly resistant to mildew. It provides no nutritive value to plants, animals, microorganisms or rodents. Producing Megaform will reduce emissions of CO2 by 50%. Concrete used is a material for the ages. It is resistant to rust, rot, fire, light, oxidation and pests.

SOUND AND ACCOUSTICS

Megaform walls have the acoustic benefits by reducing sound transmission eg.Class rating (STC) of over 55.
